Welcome!

Mystified by mindfulness? Wondering what it can do for you or your organization? In recent years, modern science and ancient wisdom have converged to bring to light the wide-ranging benefits of mindfulness, and today it is an integral part of healthcare, business, sports, universities, and schools. Upstream Mindfulness specializes in helping people learn and apply mindfulness to their real-world circumstances.

Mindfulness is fitness training for the brain; our instructors are like personal trainers. We focus on simple skills, clear instruction, and personalized ongoing support. Based in Denver, we serve clients all around Colorado. We also travel throughout the country to provide workshops and retreats, and we offer courses live online. We provide plenty of opportunities to meet and practice with others through retreats, hikes, and other events, because community and connection are at the heart of all we do Upstream.

Websites are great, but there’s nothing like a real conversation for connecting and clarifying. Feel free to get in touch.

FOUNDER & INSTRUCTOR

Elizabeth Perryman

Elizabeth Perryman specializes in mindfulness and meditation. An accomplished educator, writer, and speaker, she founded Upstream Mindfulness to help individuals and organizations live and work with less stress and more happiness. Her leadership, wisdom, and good humor have been honed over three decades of wide-ranging service and experience. She has worked in diverse settings with all kinds of people – in the White House, an orphanage in Mexico, boarding school, burger joint, Presbyterian church, and Cambridge University where she earned her PhD.

Across all of these settings, Elizabeth has identified mindfulness as a common denominator. “No matter what people are doing, they are happiest and most productive not when they’re stressed out, but when they are in a focused state of flow. Anyone can tap into this birthright; I simply teach them how to do so.”

Co-Founder & Instructor

Jill Zastko

Jill Zastko is an empathic and intuitive teacher. A proud introvert, she has honed her skills of observation and intuition and intrinsic curiosity to learn more about how experiences shape her world, her work and herself.

Jill was leading teams to “Care for the Customer" in her quality management role with a Fortune-500 specialty retailer. Jill embarked on the next leg of her journey following a personal loss which found her caregiving for a family member. She enrolled in an MBSR course, and the experience reshaped her work-life balance. Along the teacher training path, she found she and Elizabeth had a synergy that sparked possibility. She joined Elizabeth, bringing with her experience in coaching and development, training and facilitation, and project management. She began studying mindfulness full-time, attending retreats with many influential Western meditation teachers from coast-to-coast. She is thrilled to combine energies with Elizabeth and to connect with people from all walks of life, who like them are pursuing their bliss.

Jill lives in Congress Park in Denver and spends time exploring Colorado’s backcountry with her cattle dog, PJ.
